Troubleshoot publishing and submissions
Resolve draft, version, recipient and completion problems in surveys and evaluations.
Publishing freezes a controlled respondent version; sending gives that version to an audience. Most problems arise because the form is still draft, edits created a new draft, a required rule is incomplete, the audience is missing, or collection is closed.
Before you start
• Open the exact survey or evaluation and note its Draft, Published, Closed or Archived state and version.
• Preserve an affected response before deleting, reopening or republishing anything.
Step by step
1. Preview the current draft
Check question text, required rules, conditional logic, pages, welcome and completion content. Resolve builder validation warnings.
2. Confirm publishing state
Publish the intended version. If edits returned an evaluation to draft, republish before sending; survey version controls can publish a new snapshot or revert to the last one.
3. Check the audience and release
Verify named recipients, share-link availability, due dates and contact details. Use the owning Send or Invite action.
4. Inspect the respondent error
Identify the page and required question that blocks progress. Conditional questions should be hidden or shown according to the triggering answer.
5. Use the supported state change
Remind an outstanding recipient, reopen a survey, approve an RFI reopen request or publish a new version according to the workflow.
What happens next
• Track response and completion status from Results, the assignment matrix or recipient panel.
• Document any material version change that could affect comparability.
Troubleshooting
Send is disabled
Publish the form, add at least one valid recipient or contact and check any workspace limit shown by the page.
A respondent cannot submit
Check unanswered required questions, file rules and conditional logic on the reported page.
New edits are not visible to recipients
The existing release is versioned. Publish the updated version and follow the product’s resend or release rules.
A completed response needs correction
Use the supported reopen workflow; do not delete evidence merely to bypass submission state.
